Principal’s Report
What a busy term we are having, with much more to come. The P & C’s Father’s Day stall was a huge success yesterday and will be up and running again today. It would be fantastic if there were a few more volunteers, the ladies were rushed off their feet yesterday. The Book Week canteen orders have proved very popular. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone in costume at today’s Book Week parade, which will be at the conclusion of the assembly.
One Big Voice
We wish Ms Moore and the choir all the best for Thursday’s One Big Voice performance at the RAC Arena. Best wishes to Aleah L, who successfully auditioned for one of the speaking roles. I look forward to seeing everyone in their new choir shirts too.
Swimming Lessons
Thank you to everyone for your persistence with swimming lessons in Winter. You will be happy to know that we have been scheduled for Spring next year.
Faction Carnival
Next week is the faction carnival, weather permitting. I know everyone loves to come and watch their child, if you could also give an hour or two to assist with the many activities that the P & C have happening on the day, that would be great. I know Keisha has more information further on in this newsletter.
Staff News
Mr Warren Barnard, our Gardner, has decided to take a new journey in his career and has accepted a position in private business. We would like to wish Warren all the very best for his future, I know he will be greatly missed by the school community.

Champion Athlete Events
Wednesday 28 August - Jumps/Throws/400m/800m/Yr 1 and 2 Cross Country
Due to the wet weather, swimming lessons, illnesses and other events we have not yet set who ‘The Champion Athlete Event’ participants will be. Hopefully the rain holds long enough over the next two weeks to run all the trials. Children will be notified when trials have been run and Seesaw messages will be sent home to notify parents
Main Carnival Events
Friday 30 August - Sprints/200m/Team Games/Tabloids/Relays/Community Challenge
This is the whole school being on the oval taking part in events to gain points for their faction. Each child has the opportunity to take part in an age group sprint, team games and tabloids and a relay (age group or flag relay).
Carnival program follows, however please note, being a school event times are approximate and the carnival moves at a pace appropriate to ‘getting it done and won’ before the 3pm siren.
We are looking, praying and hoping for some volunteers to assist with the long jump and long throw on Wednesday 28 August. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know or notify the office if you are available to help.

NAIDOC Week News
National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in July each year, to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The 2024 theme was ‘Keep the fire burning! Blak, loud and proud’. This theme honours the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture – with fire a symbol of connection to Country, to each other, and to the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. At Hampton Park Primary School we celebrated NAIDOC week through storytelling, art and craft activities across the school. The following are just a few examples of the many activities completed and displayed around our school during NAIDOC week.

Library News
With swimming lessons finished, I hope to see all the overdue books flowing back into the library. Our competition is well under way with an average of only 50% of books being returned on time. There are a couple of classes with around 70-80% returns, which is fantastic. There is still time for other classes to improve and have a chance to be in the running for the icy poles at the end of term.
The total books returned will be based on the percentage of how many books the whole class brings back. If only a half of the class bring back books, then I will mark off 50% of the week, if three quarters of the class bring back books then I will mark off 75%. Reward will be given at the end of the term for the class who has been most consistent with bringing back their books each week.
Book Week
Book week is upon us, and we have lots of books on display. Don’t forget the dress-up parade is happening on Wednesday 21 August! Students can come as one of their favourite book characters.
Premiers Reading Challenge
Premier’s reading challenge is still on, and students can borrow most books and add them to their list to go towards achieving their goals for the challenge. There are 21 days to go as of the 16August 2024. Still time to read more and have a chance for some of those prizes!
WAYRBA
We are nearly at the end of voting for WAYRBA books. I wonder which author will take out one of the prizes in the ‘West Australian Young Reader’s Book Awards!’

P&C
We are currently seeking help with our sports carnival stalls coming up next week, Friday August 30. Some of our regular helpers are unable to commit this year so we are relying on new helpers. Below are some ways you can help us on the day:
Setup from 830am in the undercover area.
- Provide donations for our bake sale, bake or buy, sweet or savoury.
- Serving at our stalls during the busy periods of recess and lunch.
- BBQ duty, cooking sausages and onions.
- Pack up from 2 pm.
Any time you can give will help greatly in our success. Please reach out and contact us or leave your details at the office if you are able to help. Thank you.
